We chat with Jamie Charman, former ruckman for the Brisbane Lions, about property development and how he has continued to grow his wealth.
Rebekah: I’m joined today with Jamie Charman, previous professional footballer with the Brisbane Lions and also now current Business Development Manager for the Lions. Thanks very much for joining us, Jamie.
Jamie: No, thanks very much for having me on.
Rebekah: No worries. ow I know our viewers will be interested. We’ve got a few quick questions about you, because you’re into property development, so why?
Jamie: Yeah, look, I’ve always had a bit of a passion for it. While I was playing football, I had a bit of a part-time hobby renovating Queenslanders and I think it’s just continued while I’ve been in a business role here, now at the Lions.
Rebekah: So, Jamie, why have you chosen property development, particularly, to build your wealth?
Jamie: Look, it’s probably what I know and it’s always been in my family to invest in property. My dad’s a builder and I guess he’s helped with me the houses that I have built. But now, it’s about me doing it for myself and having a crack at it myself, so.
Rebekah: Right and what is your top property development tip, if you could give to anyone young, or old, looking to start out?
Jamie: Look, it’s just finding people you can trust and a company you can trust and I’ve been lucky, I guess, with SMSF that they do all the planning. They do all the drawings. So, in my busy life I just don’t have the time to do that and also organize all the construction.
Rebekah: Heaps of work. Okay. Great tips. Jamie, finally top tip for the Brisbane Lions this season. It seems like it’s going to be our year.
Jamie: Well, it would be nice but look, no, you don’t want to put any pressure on at the start of the season.
Rebekah: That’s true. No pressure of course.
Jamie: But let’s see how we’re traveling come September. But look, I think we’re in a lot better position this year to have a win and hopefully play Finals.
Rebekah: Fingers crossed.
Rebekah: Thanks very much, Jamie.
Jamie: No worries. Thanks, Rebecca.
